Today is the day!

It has been a relatively chilled morning as I didn't check out until 3 so I slept, watched tv and leisurely got ready for the airport. I put on jeans to wear to the airport and it feels so weird as I haven't worn them the whole summer!

I'm currently sitting in the lobby of the hotel waiting for the shuttle to go to the airport. Soon I'll be on my way home... I can't believe I've been here 3 months! I have definitley had the summer of a lifetime and made some friends that are now my new found family. Definitley heading back to Redwing next year!

All for now, next time I'll write I'll be in England.....

Day 14/15: Miami and NYC

So all today was was a big driving day down to Miami, it took a total of about 5 hours. We eventually arrived in Miami which is beautiful! Anyway we eventually got to the right hotel after saying goodbye to everyone. It was nice to spend the two weeks with a great bunch of people!

Nicole and I were sharing a room so we sorted our cases out and chilled for the evening. Nicole had to leave early the next morning for her flight home so we went to bed relatively early.

I said goodbye blearly eyed to Nicole at about 5.30 in the morning and webt back to sleep until I had to leave at 11.30.

I headed to the airport and flew from Miami to JFK - it was an ok flight but I slept all the way so I was good!

I got to JFK about 5.30 and then headed straight to my hotel. I found my room and chilled for the evening. It was nice having a proper bed and TV!!

Tomorrow is the day..... I'm heading home! I can't believe my summer is over!

Day 13: DISNEYWORLD

I think this sums up my excitement for today! We headed to the park and around 9 and went straight and bought Minnie ears! I was so excited!! Anyway we met up with Minnie Mouse and then walked down Mainstreet USA. We fastrscked all the busy rides and headed towards Tomorrowland to start rides! We started with Monsters Inc and then headed to Buzz Lightyear. We went on all the rides we possibly could! We lined up for the new ride "Seven Dwarves Mine Train" and we ended up waiting in line for at least 2 hours for this ride. Needless to say it wasn't the best one ever!

We watched the parade at 2pm and then it started raining so we hit the shops. Me + $$ + Disney = Spending ALOT! It was well worth it though!

We met with the other characters too which was so much fun! Here are a few photos. I will get more soon as someone else got all the photos taken by the Disney photographers.

It was time for the evening parade and the fireworks, they were fantastic!

It was definitely the highlight of my trek! Cannot wait to go back to Disney sometime in the future!

Tomorrow is the final day of my trek!

Day 12: Orlando

We decided to do something to make the most of our time in Orlando so me and a couple of the other girls headed to the waterpark Wet N Wild. It was so good!

Unfortuantely I don't any pictures as I didn't want my phone getting ruined but it was such a cool place. My favourite ride had to be the one that you stood in a box and the floor gave way underneath you and you dropped vertically down a slide! I have to say I was petrified but it was so fun!

We spent the whole day at the waterpark chilling which was so good! We then headed to either the outlets or back to camp; I headed back to camp so I could save all my money for Disney!

We decided to pay a little extra to stay in cabins rather than camping which was nice. We were able to shower and get ready for the next day without being in a smelly tent!

We had dinner then headed to bed because tomorrow... DISNEY!

Day 10/11: Panama City and Manatee Springs

It was a bit touch and go whether or not we were able to head to Manatee springs thanks to the possibility that Hurricane Erika wod be hitting Florida. We heard nothing from the trek company so we continued our journey to Manatee Springs.

It was quite a long drive to Manatee Slrings but we finally arrived in the afternoon, it definitely wasn't the favourite of the places I've been yet! Anyway we set up camp.... On gravel.... And then headed down to the spring. First thing that out me off was the GIANT sogn telling you to be aware of the alligators.... Anyway we decided we'd still go into te spring and it was freezing but really pretty. We were in there for about 10 minutes when a local decided to shoe us the snakes that were around where we were sunbathing and swimming. I was out like a shot!

We spent some time using wifi and chilling until the rain came. We headed back to camp, had dinner and then chilled as there is not much you can do in a rainstorm when staying in tents!

Tomorrow we're heading to Orlando! Yay!

Days 8/9: New Orleans and Panama City Beach

(This is a few days late thanks to the awful wifi we've had!)

We left New Orleans bright and early so we could start the long drive to Panama City Beach!

We first stopped off to go on a swamp tour and see alligators!

The last alligator was the biggest they'd seen all summer!

After the swamp tour, the journey was about 5 and a half hours long. Needless to say it was TOTALLY worth it when we arrived in Panama. The campsite is sandy but all the same pretty decent. We had a quick dinner then headed to the beach to watch the sunset, it was AMAZING! (I forgot to take my camera down...) but we stayed on the beach for about 2 hours just chilling which was so good.

This morning we got down to the beach for 9 o'clock so we could get a good bit of sunbathing done. Definitely worth it! Sunbathing then swimming in the sea which was so beautiful and warm!!

After lunch we then headed to go snorkelling. Only problem was was there were loads of Jellyfish and that freaked me out a bit! Anyway we got to swim in the sea and people caught all kinds of wildlife.

So I got a selfie with a Starfish!!

Tomorrow we're off to Manatee Springs which is a lazy river, that should be amazing!

All for now!

Days 6/7: Memphis and New Orleans

The day before yesterday we were in Memphis where we did nothing the first day because it was a bit of a drive. We did however, get to see where Martin Luther King Jr. Was assinated, we also got to see the Peabody Ducks; these ducks march everyday in and out of an elevator in a really posh hotel in the centre of Memphis.

Yesterday we got to go and tour Elvis Presley's house which was realy interesting.

We then had a 6 hour drive ahead of us because we were heading to New Orleans. We arrived at our MASSIVE townhouse around 6 where we set up everything and headed out for dinner. It was one of the girls 21st Birthday so we took her out and she had a great time!

Today: We woke up and had breakfast and then was wondering what we could do, we decided to wander around and over to the Outlets so we could have some retail therapy. It was great! New Orleans is actually really pretty (Were staying in the not so pretty area...!)

We then headed to the pool when we got bavk and sunbathed for a while, ate dinner and chilled for the evening.

Tomorrow we're heading Panama City so we can start hitting the beaches! Looking forward to getting a tan!

Think thats all for now

Day 5: Nashville

We had a 4 hour drive but we cut it up by going to the Jack Daniels Distillery and having a tour, it was really interesting!

Nashville was so cool!

We stayed in a hostel instead of camping which was luxury and it was a really nice hostel as well!

We went out to dinner at a place called Dicks which is a restaurant where you get servers that are really rude/sassy and hilarious. They throw menus at you and make fun of everybody throughout the whole meal, definitely an experience!

After that we headed back to the hostel and got ready to go out and headed to the "strip" it was so vibrant and the atmosphere was amazing. Unfortunately we didn't get in anywhere because of ID issues but it was still fun going into shops and just soaking up the atmosphere!

Here are a few photos:

Day 3/4: Tennessee and Ocoee

So yesterday was mainly a driving day so there wasn't really much to report. We were in the car for about 6 hours which for the majority I slept so it went pretty quickly.

Today has been so much fun. We had a 3 hour drive from our campsite last night but we went White Water Rafting today whicch was honestly one of the best experiences! It was so much fun to go down some really big rapids and thankfully I didn't fall out! I'm very proud of myself! (We bought a CD of pictures but I'll have to upload them when I get home!)

Tomorrow is on to Nashville, its going to be so much fun!

Day 2: Washington DC

Today was great!

We started with a bike tour of Washington and we were able to see all the sights which was great!

And we saw the White House!

We then had a free afternoon to do what we wanted so we went to the Holocaust Museum which was extremely interesting but also very moving.

These are some of the victims shoes:

One of the Jewish communities that got completely destroyed and everyone died:

After the Holocaust museum we thought we would do something slightly more lighthearted so we decided to go to the Air and Space Museum which was great. Here are a few of my favourite photos!

(How cute is the monkey!)

Thats it for day 2! We have a long 7 hour drive ahead of us tomorrow to the Appalachian Mountains.

Trek Day 1!

So after staying in a hotel last night and meeting up with Nicole who is also on the same trek as me, we started at 7.30 this morning and had a meeting. After the meeting we hit the road and headed towards Philadelphia.

We arrived in Philly at around 11 and wandered round and saw the Liberty Bell which was cool.

We then headed to a massive food market where we got Philly Cheesesteaks. They were so good!

We then had another 3 hour drive to DC where we're now staying in a really lovely campsite. Off to DC tomorrow!

Everyone seems really lovely, its going to be loads of fun! Can't wait to hit the road again!

Camp is over and my new adventures begin!

Its a bit of a late post but camp has now finished and it feels so weird!

We have a really lovely farewell banquet which got very emotional because I've made so many new friends. Its going to be tough not seeing them on a daily basis! I have definitely found a new family at Redwing!

A few phots from the banquet:

I'm currently in a hotel in Pittsburgh ready for my onward travels to New York tomorrow. Then the trek begins! Can't wait!!

Last full week at camp!

I can't believe only 3 days of actual camp left.... Its been really busy as everything is beginning to be shut up ready for next summer.

I've had a group of girls this week doing a camp called Night Crawlers, it was a very nature based camp, it also involved us sleeping under the stars one night, it was very cold but a great experience! I had one girl that would not stop following me around... I think she enjoyed herself a lot!

Backtracking a bit, last week finished off with a camp called Dad and me where young girls could come and experience camp with their dads. All the dads were very enthusiastic and it was lovely to see them participating in activities together.

Starting Monday we have Core camp - this is where troops will come with their leaders and take part in activities that we set up. It'll be interesting to experience another different style of camp.

We've had a very loong weekend off and yesterday I went shopping, it was GREAT! Although I wish I could have bought more...! There will always be other opportunities to shop!

Thats it for, next time I write camp will be over! Its definitely going to be an emotional week!

Another week is almost over!

So this week has been very long!! I think I've had my quota of horse camps for this summer!!

These girls at the moment are much older than others I've had so I haven't been able to bond with them as much but they are still great! I've had them all chasing after me with pitchers of water and buckets trying to soak me and others who like to drench me whilst I'm watching at the pool...!

These girls don't leave until Sunday so I still have some time left with them but the "Me and my Gal" (Dad and me camp) is coming in tonight so I'm going to be busy  switching between my girls and running activities for the Dad and the young girls!

From tonight to tomorrow is my day off so I'm chilling with some of my camp friends! Minnow; a camp alumni offered to take us back to her house for dinner so we are chilling in her back garden.

I can't believe we only have a week and a half left of actual camp! Its crazy!

Horses, horses and more horses!

So as the title explains I have been around horses a lot this week. My Level 2 Horse Camp; Back in The Saddle was pretty good but I've spent A LOT of time with them! We as unit counsellors look after the kids but when it comes to being in the barn we can't do anything because we don't know what we're doing!

The rest of the activities were great and the girls were lovely too! Anyway, next week we get another horse camp... These are the most experienced riders so they should be pretty good.

Campers and sessions aside we had another few days off once the girls left so we went out for dinner together. Today we ride horses (never again!) and relaxed at the pool; it was so lovely and chilled.

We managed to get some decent wifi so we looked up places to eat; WE GOT CHINESE! I was so excited! It tasted so good and it was nice to had normal food for a change!!

Thunk thats it for now! I don't have any good photos this week, they're all on my camera...

I can't believe we only have 19 days left, its so crazy!! I've had the time of my life!

Time for bed!

Sailing Away amongst other things!

So again its been a while - I'm sorry!

I've been at another camp all week sailing with some girls - had such a great time and it was great to be able to spend some time somewhere else other than camp! The lake was so pretty!

Oh and I got to ride on a yellow school bus!!

I didn't manage to sail but got some canoe time which was fun! We stayed in a lodge with air conditioning and sofa's - it was bliss!

I'm safetly back at Redwing now waiting for the next lot of girls to arrive tomorrow and I have another horse camp next week :)

Saw a GIANT snake yesterday which had made its way inside one of our buildings - yuk!! It was at least 4ft long and very aggressive!

Enjoying my day off by doing absolutely nothing!
