T Minus 7 Days!

Only 7 Days until I leave for camp, I can't believe it's come round this quick!

Since writing my other post, I've been given my flight details and packing list and have been trying to get everything ready for next week.

I have packed, unpacked, re packed and packed again! Going away for 3 months and having to pack everything in 1 suitcase weighing 23 kg is tough!!

I forgot to mention in my last post (and for those who don't know) I'm off to a Girl Scouts Camp in Pennslyvania called Camp Redwing. My position is a general unit counsellor, but at the moment I'm still unsure exactly what I have to do!! As everyone can expect I am very excited!

My Camp America journey in a nutshell!

So... This is my first ever blog post! It's going to take a lot of getting used to and it may be updated numerous times but I will get there in the end!

For those who don't know what's going on (although many of you will with the amount of posts I write on social media!) I'm off to America in 15 days!!!

I applied in September of last year to the Camp America programme so I could do the two things I love; Travel and Boost my childcare experience. It was all going well and at the end of September I had an interview and passed and then was on the "Ready to Place" stage. That basically means the application you have created is live and camps from America can view your profile.

And then I waited, and waited, and waited...... I unfortunately missed the Recruitment Fairs in London but just had to have my fingers crossed that SOMEBODY would email me for an interview!

The beginning of March came and I was given a place on the "Ready Steady Go" programme; meaning that I still had skills that Camps wanted. With this, I was able to go and get my visa from the Embassay so I was all ready to leave if I was needed at short notice. Oh yes, camps could give you a minimum of 3 days notice!!

Fast forwarding to May, an ordinary Wednesday came and almost went but not until I received an email from a Camp Director for an interview! No one understands how excited I was!! I screamed and my mum was genuinely worried I had hurt myself or that my dog had destroyed some vital piece of furniture! The interview was scheduled for the next day, so as you can imagine, I was not able to think about anything else!!

The interview time came and my laptop rang.... I was slightly nervous but it was definitely not needed, the Camp Director was lovely. We chatted, we laughed  ( probably to do with the fact I told her how much I loved the movie Parent Trap!) and after a while I was offered the job!!         I was E C S T A T I C, my summer dream had come true!!

Anyway, I am off in 15 Days but I wish it could come faster!!
